How to Update Address on Aadhaar Card

Updating your address on the Aadhaar card is a straightforward process managed by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). You can do it either online(if you have access to your myAadhaar account) or offline at an Aadhaar Enrollment Center. The update is free if done within 30 days of issuance; otherwise, it costs ₹75 for address changes.

Valid Proof of Address (POA): You'll need a supporting document like:

  - Passport

  - Bank statement/passbook (last 3 months)

  - Voter ID

  - Driving license

  - Ration card

  - Utility bill (electricity, water, gas – not older than 3 months)

  - Rent agreement (with owner’s POA)

For online: Registered mobile number linked to Aadhaar.

 Online Update (via myAadhaar Portal)

This is the easiest if you're updating to a family member's address or have self-attestation.

1. Visit the Portal:

   - Log in using your 12-digit Aadhaar number, CAPTCHA, and OTP sent to your registered mobile/email.

2. Select Service:

   - Choose "Update Your Address" under the "Document Update" section.

3. Enter Details:

   - Fill in the new address (house number, street, locality, city, state, PIN code).

   - Upload a scanned copy of your POA document (PDF/JPG, max 1MB).

4. Submit and Verify:

   - Review details, submit, and verify using OTP.

   - You'll get a Service Request Number (SRN) or Update Request Number (URN). Track status using this on the portal.

5. Download Updated e-Aadhaar:

   - Once processed (usually 15-30 days), download the updated e-Aadhaar from the portal. The physical card will be sent to your new address if requested.
